$v=\sqrt{v_{transverse}^2 + v_{radial}^2}=\sqrt{v_{t}^2 + v_{r}^2}$

Here: $v_{transverse}=$22 km/s and $v_{radial}=$20 km/s

$v=\sqrt{v_{t}^2 + v_{r}^2}= \sqrt{(22 ~km/s)^2 + (20~ km/s)^2}$

$v=\sqrt{884~\frac {km^2}{s^2}}$=30 km/s
