Nuclear Physics for Applications, not mandatory, Stanley G. Prussin, Wiley-VCH, ISBN: 3527407006, 1st Edition (2007).
Subatomic Physics, not mandatory, Frauenfelder and Henley, Prentice Hall, ISBN: 0138594309, 2nd Edition (1991) or any other Edition.

For homework assignments, any changes and updates go to Homework.

Tests and Reading Assignments

The chapters covered in class should be read prior to the lecture. Up to 4 Tests will be given at any time. They are intended to help keep your reading up to date. Each test comprises questions of the recent lectures and the reading assignment. For reading assignments, changes and updates go to Homework. Your average test grade and your participation in class will count towards 20% of your course score.

Presentation

Each enrolled student is allowed to propose two topics, see Presentations. They should be sent to gothe@sc.edu by 5/8/08. All topics and dates will be assigned by 5/9/08. Each student has to deliver a PowerPoint presentations. Relevance: 30% of your course score.

Lab Reports

Keeping a logbook of your laboratory work including short write-ups is required. All lab sessions have to be documented and analyzed. Relevance of lab participation and lab reports: 50% of your course score.

Grading Formula

Course Score = 0.2*TP+0.3*P+0.5*L

Lecture and laboratory attendance is mandatory. Unexcused absence is not allowed and will lower your class participation score.
